I suggest not wearing a skirt during a NY winter!
You could wear it with nice jeans, brown or tan boots/shoes, brown pants... I guess browns? Usually I just don't give a crap and buy two coats for the winter.... a nice dressy one, and a "it's cold as shit out" one. Both are black. In the cold.... color is not an issue.
