I pledged at a college here in the South in 1971. At that time, yes, lavaliers were big, as were jerseys-and usually each sorority stuck to wearing jerseys of their color only. All sorority pledges carried blue-bound "pledge books" with their letters on the front. Paddles hanging on walls were a must, and pretty much the only type of wood present given (they are now not allowed). This was before the internet, so the only way you could get Greek items was from your sorority headquarters via magazine, or the college bookstore! Oh, and pledge ribbons were worn during the pledge period.
