No, Rent have never stopped playing in Broadway. Maybe you're thinking about the transfer from off-broadway to Broadway. The rule of thumb for a Broadway re-vival is that producers will not revived it until at least 15 years have elapsed since the last production ended. There are exception (Sweeney Todd)
