Of course there were a few who didn't speak English very well, but that only lasted until I began informing the registrar that if a prof could not speak English that I would have them repeat the statement over and over again for the entire period until they got it right and would NOT allow the class to continue. I was steered toward the correct profs and TA's from that point on and never had to put up with someone who didn't have r's in their alphabet.

The only prof I had a problem with was a retired Air Force Lt. Col. The problem was that I was 26 years old, worked graveyard, so I took a morning class with a bunch of 20 year old full time students. My shift was officially over at 07:30 and class began at around 08:15, but problems with the system during the night might put me 5-15 mins late. I ride motorcycles, at the time I had been riding for 12 years. I would show up in class in boots, leather chaps, jacket, and gloves. I don't think the prof like my looks being an old AF computer dweeb. When I was late I was very careful to slip into class and take the end seat on the last row so as not to disturb the class. One day he stopped the class and berated me for being late and disturbing the class. I responded that until he began his rant nobody else in class had even known that I had come in. He said that if I was late again that he would kick me out. I told him that since I was paying for for the class that he was my employee. He worked for me, he would continue to teach, and I wasn't going anywhere. He said that he would call campus police and have me removed. I told him to be sure that they were bigger and tougher than me and to have my tuition refund check ready because so long as I paid for a seat in that class, at that time, it was mine to do with as I please. By this time he realized, from the other students reaction, that he was looking like a fool in front of the class and I never heard a peep out of him after that.

The class was Systems Analysis and Design, which was a GREAT class and I learned a lot. I never got below an 85 on any test or assignment, yet he gave me a D for the semester. I took it to the department head and it was raised to a B.
