Sigma Sigma Sigma was found in violation of University policy and will stay on social suspension for the remainder of the semester.
According to an e-mail from Mike Young, assistant vice president of Student Affairs, the Alpha Chi chapter must complete 75 percent of the required educational programs before the suspension will be reduced to probation in the spring.
The programs educate on "what is hazing, sisterhood development, personal maturity and programs designed to complement the new members' pledging experience," the document said.
Tri Sigma President Nancy Parrish said the education will be beneficial to the sorority.
"The chapter is focusing on its sisterhood and education right now," Parrish said. "We look forward to having social events in the future."
The sorority also will not be allowed to hold initiation until spring semester, the document said.
