I agree with Siobhan in that the Betas here at are the pretty boys. This year they have an intense rivalry here with KSig for intramural supremacy.

In terms of the sororities, I'd have to say that our (AGD) biggest rival has traditionally been Kappa, though lately it seems to be Gamma Phi in intramurals ( we are currently #1!!).

Within the UBC greek system, there seems to be a few tiers when it comes to the fraternities & sororities (numbers-wise). For the fraternities, it's Beta, KSig at the top with Fiji & then Sigma Chi next, followed up by Alpha Delt, Phi Delt & Psi U (I've omitted Deke & the new AEPi).

As for the sororities, Kappa, Gamma Phi, ADPi & us are at or near total, with DG & DphiE not far behind, & then Alpha Phi (still holding in there).

I've got friends in almost all of the fraternities (except Psi-U & AEPi), & most of the sororities as well. It has definitely been interesting to watch our greek system (& especially the FIJIs) evolve over the past four years.

Just my thoughts.
Wow, definitely a discrepancy in opinions of campus
I was curious about the betas because in Ontario they're all big guys, and at carleton they're not very well-liked because they start a lot of shit. In fact, I'm good freinds with guys of every other fraternity except them and phi delta theta.

I was just talking the other day with one of the tri delts about how much the greek system is changing. Between Ottawa-Carleton there are 10 active fraternities and 9 active sororties founded within the last 12 years.

There's many other groups also looking to expand to the capital region. In fact, Zeta Psi (who are on a tear expanding across Canada) are scoping out the campus looking to colonize for september.
