I would go with a cross between A and B.
I lived in a dorm that had suites - between 3 and 7 rooms, a common room, a kitchen, and a bathroom. Each floor had about 6 suites, plus there was a floor lounge, and a small apartment for the graduate resident tutors.
People tended to bond with the whole floor, not just their suitemates - mainly because the only TV on the floor was in the floor lounge.
This way, you have some privacy, and you have some relatively quiet lounges to study in, but you still have enough of a communal atmosphere that the whole house will bond.
