From what I understand, the culture as a whole is HIGHLY intolerant of homosexuals. If a man "comes out" and admits to being gay, isn't he essentially putting his life in jeopardy and bringing shame on his family? Or is this all hyperbole?
Terri's facial expressions were hilarious. I would invite her out for a mojito.

I am not from Jamaica - my family is from Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago but the quick answer is its all hyperbole.
Jonathan has done more to embaress his family by his current actions and lies than if he had just come out. He has put himself out there for criticism for how he's represented himself.
You are in no more danger being gay in Jamaica than being black & walking through Beverly Hills. Hell you're more likely to be pulled over for DWB (driving while black) in any major city here in the US. Bad things happen to people - but please believe there isn't a squad of people running around the island trying to get rid of or harass all the homosexuals.
For the people that keep saying how could Terry not know? You have to realize J did not dress or act the way back then as he does now. The eyebrows weren't arched and he didn't have the s curl (not that I remember). Did he look a little "soft"? - yes but some women can deal with a soft man.
Edtied to add - as ironic as it is to use this example Eddie Murphy joked long ago - a woman can catch her man in bed
in the act & will still believe the line "it wasn't me". Terry admits that she was suspicious before she actually confronted Jonathan - had one of her friends said something she would NOT have believed it - especially if he had denied it. It took her basically catching him out there for her to believe what was right in front of her face.
A couple of my friends have been/are in jacked up relationships - (husbands aren't gay but they have serious issues) women wear blinders when they want to...learned a long time ago to just stay out of it unless she's being physically abused.
