Actually, now that the kid and his parents have apologized (profusely) and paid for the lock re-keying, the house has been cleaned, and we're done being outraged, the story is somewhat chuckle-worthy. It's definitely going in the holiday letter...
I'll still feel a lot better once our home security system is installed. (It's not a high-crime area at all, but I'm a paranoid New Yorker
