But if Crystal's mother really did say those things and really did file a restaining order, then why the hell did she give them her permission to get married.

I have a feeling that daughter threw a fit, cussed the mother out, threw things, etc. and all mom wanted was for there to be peace, daughter to be gone, and perhaps she wouldn't have to raise her grandchild either... This move satisfied these things.
Most people don't think that far into the future.
