Usually I think you're right, DeltAlum. In cases like this, however, I lean toward Coramoor's more cynical position. Even at schools that aren't spectacular football powerhouses, the athletic department and its influential supporters (the gambling industry, the vendors of souvenirs, the "hospitality industry," the athletic conference and the networks / stations and licensees contractually linked to it, and so on) have an amazing ability -- and an amazing amount of money -- to make almost anything disappear. Schools like McGill, which canceled its season because of a hazing scandal, are few and far between. We'll see, of course. I've been wrong before.
