Here's your shoutout, lifesaver!

Yes, it's true, most of you will likely be doing things you never would've imagined in 10 years. How do I know? Ask anyone else who's just had their thirtieth ( ) high school reunion what the main topic was. It was probably, "I never in a thousand years thought I'd be doing___someday," followed by, "Life has a funny way of turning out, doesn't it?"

That doesn't mean you shouldn't have dreams and goals! You should! It's just that you shouldn't insist that you'll just die if life doesn't turn out a certain way. You may not get one thing but what you do get may be better.

I'd always thought I'd be a famous agriculture professor at one of the major land grant universities. It didn't pan out because right after I got my doctorate, the President cut hundreds of jobs in my field and now I'm teaching Spanish at a smaller college. My big reward--a fabulous husband and 13 super kids (no, I never planned that!) Other rewards--working in the large international community here, helping other people adopt internationally as we did with 5 of ours. Life is so satisfying...

So dream! Plan! But always be open to whatever comes along!
