Both Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. hold memberships in the NIC and the NPHC.
The bottom line to the original issue, as Discogoddess stated, as a member you SHOULD KNOW what you can and cannot do as far as quitting and joining another organization is concerned. What is done in the dark WILL come to light and I would hope that someone who is about to spend THOUSANDS of dollars on ANYTHING would take the time to make an INFORMED decision.
I know we've beat the lifetime commitment issue to death, but I don't believe the particular point I'm thinking of has been made. I have an idea about how the "most NPC/NIC groups are not lifetime commitments" MYTH is perpetuated/generated. Generally speaking, the majority (about 75%) of the ACTIVE membership of the NPHC organizations is at the Alumnae level. Based on what I've gathered from this board & talking to live people, it's flipped for most of the NPC/NIC. I'm not saying one is better than the other because, as AKA_Monet pointed out, we're set up differently. I'm just offering insight as to how the MYTH comes about.
