I only aplied to 4 schools, and to be honest, 2 of those were just for fun because I could never have afforded them. I pretty much knew I was going to Illinois (UIUC) but Illinois State was my emergency fall back. I applied to Northwestern and Notre Dame just because I went to a very snobby high school, and everyone applied to those schools to brag about whether or not they got in. (Of course most of the ones that got in actually went there, because they could afford it!) I think about 50% of my high school class went on to Marquette, which we affectionately called "Carmel High School North" because it was just a continuation of our Catholic High School for most.
