(This was a nifty thread, so I felt the need to bump it.)
I was set on going to Indiana and told all my friends that I was going there...my dad said, "I'm paying, and you're staying in-state and going to EIU!" My first choice was UIUC because I felt at home the second I walked on campus even though I was originally very reluctant to visit it. Unfortunately, I applied the last day possible to the education school and, needless to say, a month later I got the skinny envelope that says, "we have many fine candidates...we wish you the best....blah, blah, blah." I ended up going to EIU for my first two years, and it ended up being a great transition to UIUC when I was accepted as a transfer student.
I wouldn't have changed my experiences for anything, HOWEVER, I visited UVA when I moved out here, and I fell in love with the campus. If I had visited or lived out here when I was in high school, I very well may have gone there. (Plus, I met the UVA SK's, and they're so fun!)
