It's not just her friend's bar.
The bartender and the bar will be held responsible if they let a customer get too drunk. If something unfortunate happens after the customer gets behind the wheel, the bar and bartender could get in trouble too. That was the first thing I learned in Liquor Commission class.
Not only have I had to cut people off, I've wrestled for keys, and thrown people in cabs. I've called the cops on people who got behind the wheel before. I've made enemies because of that, but shit -- anything to get one more drunk driver off the road.
