I was somewhere out in left court, not on any list, and not on anyone's radar, and I liked it that way. I was a 4 year letterman in swimming, 3 year letterman in tennis, and a letterman in crew. I had a 4.0 and did Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science, so I got put in the honors classes with the rest of my nerdy wonderful ilk. But I'm also a punk and straightedge. So I don't drink, I donn't smoke, I don't do drugs, and I went to a ton of concerts and wore band tshirts. I got a lot of shit from my attempts to start a gay-lesbian alliance (now if you want to talk about torture, man those kids got it), got shit for my political views (don't you love america, terrorist? (this coming from a person who couldn't tell the difference between Iraq and Saudi Arabia)) and got shit for pretty much everything else.
My best friends were goth guys and I love them so much.
My high school was, no exageration, preferential to football. If you're from Pittsburgh, you know of Perry High football, especially my senior year...undefeated, unscored upon. Those guys were GODS. They didn't have to show up if they didn't want to...and everyone else was dispensable. I was too smart to be a jock, too jock to be a nerd, too weird to be anything else, and too ugly to be popular...so I just did my thing. I don't talk to many people from high school, as I'm one of 5 people to go out of state from a class of 250+. It is really hillarious to look back and see how many "beautiful popular" people are now pregnant and slovenly at Mcdonalds with no education.
