Here's a good 'getting sick' story . . .

So yeah, i woke up yesterday feeling like i was about 105 degrees, whatever, I popped some tylenol, went to class, and actually did ok until around 2pm. Then i was just totally fatigued, and hit the bed again for round two. Well, when I woke up at 5pm, I just felt hot throughout my whole body . . . well, at this point i decided to go see a "doctor".

I headed to Student Health Services . . . but the last doctor left there at 4:30 . . . needless to say, I was a little upset. They sent me to the hospital. Well, four hours later (and two temps taken over 102.5) they finally admitted me . . . to the emergency room, which was bizarre b/c i didn't really need to be there.

That's when the doctor told me he suspected I had meningitis - at which point I basically shit my pants . . . However, he then looked down my throat, and determined that I had Strep.

Two good quotes from the Emergency Room Doc -

1 - "Thank god it's just Strep - I thought we were going to have to do a tap." (WHAT?!? Spinal tap? NOT GOOD TO HEAR)

2 - "Holy crap - I've never seen a throat that bad before . . . "

So anyway, they gave me a liter of fluids and a shot of penicillin (in my ass - it's sore as all hell) and told me to go to sleep for approximately "forever" . . . the moral: go to student health services before 4:30, or you end up in the emergency room at Beth Israel . . . which sucks.
