Unveiling of Commemorative Stamp Series Honoring Soror Hattie McDaniel
Greetings Sorors,
As part of the 41st Chicago International Film Festival, the United States Postal Service will unveil the 2006 Black Heritage Commemorative stamp series honoree, Hattie McDaniel.
The 29th stamp in the Black Heritage Series, the commemorative stamp highlights the achievements of actress, singer, and radio and television performer Soror Hattie McDaniel. Soror McDaniel was the first African-American to win an Academy Award for her role in the 1939 film Gone with the Wind. This stamp will be issued early 2006.
This commemorative event will be held Friday, October 14, 2005, in Chicago, IL. International Grand Basileus, Dr. Mynora J. Bryant, will join Randy Crumpton, Chairman, Black Perspectives Committee and acclaimed Actor, Terrence Howard with the unveiling of the stamp. Mr. Howard is best known for his parts in Lackawanna Blues, Hustle & Flow, Crash and Ray.
On November 5, 2005, Grand Basileus Bryant will be the Grand Hostess as Alpha Alpha Sigma Chapter of Baltimore, Maryland, hosts a U.S. Postal Service stamp unveiling during their Founders' Day Luncheon in honor of the late actress and Soror Hattie McDaniel. Be sure not to miss this grand opportunity to participate in the honoring of a great Sigma for her many accomplishments.
