Most Journalism schools say to spell out the name the first time and then use the initials after that if you want.
OSU means Ohio State, Oklahoma State or Oregon State, depending on where you live and what you're used to.
Another instance:
My wife and I graduated from O.U.
Our son is a senior at O.U.
Our daughter graduated from O.U. after spending two years at U.N.C.
Translated:
My wife and I graduated from Ohio University.
Our son is a senior at Oklahoma.
Our daughter graduated from Ohio University
after spending two years at the University of Northern Colorado.

You're really being a stickler on this. Everyone's gotta pick their battles I guess.
Anyway, I'm amazed that these chapters can tap into that much money. Does the University somehow help?
