Purdue is a goner come election time. Even many Republicans dislike him as well. He has made a lot of stupid choices since he has been in office. He really doomed himself earlier in his term when he broke his promise to bring back the old GA flag with the conferate flag portion of it. I think even Hoosier would probably admit it doesn't look good for Sonny. I heard some republicans are calling for another republican to run against him because they fear they will lose the office. We need someone like Zell even though the turned turncoat on the Democrats.
The GA dems, libs, and union members can turn out a crowd - with little notice and a few charter buses and church vans - for anything. The protesting mothers all seemed to be dragging along kids too young for public schools, and I think I saw the same bunch last week posing as vegans protesting in front of Honey Baked Ham.

In the past four years, Republicans have won both GA Senate seats, the Governorship, and both houses of the legislature - I don't think Sonny ever promised to bring back the Confederate flag, and no Republican campaigner or voter cares.

The flag, the Hope scholarships, school holidays, and gas taxes are not viable issues in GA, and dems who make them campaign issues are facing losses like Murphy, Barnes, Walker, etc. The dems who campaign with them will get lots of publicity from TV and from the Atlanta newspaper (on the front page and editorial page), but their influence is now minimal.

Besides, Sonny has so much campaign cash bankrolled that he's secure.
