I used to work in a cancer ward in high school.
There was one elderly woman I liked a lot. One time I went by one of their rooms and the woman was crying and screaming. I saw one of the most awful operations possible that had been performed on a human body. The following week when I came back, her room was empty. These doctors had ruined her quality of life and destroyed her G-d given body a week before she would die. Obviously the physical ailments allowed them to make that conscious decision to operate.
The psychological ailments are intangible...
