To make matters worse, one of my coworkers has a friend whose very good friend works for a petroleum company in Virginia, and he said that VA is out of gas even though the media hasn't disclosed this information yet. I want to be skeptical as to the validity of this info, but it very well could be true. I can't even imagine if I won't be able to go to work because I can't get any gas! I know it probably won't get that extreme, but this all just really sucks.
And yeah, I remember the good ol' days when gas was $.89/gallon.

SSS1365, my step-father is in a similar situation as you - he travels 72 miles round trip per day to get to work (and starting next week, I travel between 70 and 100+ miles round trip two days a week to go to school

I decided to go fill up my tank today and "survey" my town - we live about 45 minutes NE of San Diego, and gas prices ranged from $2.89 to $3.09 for regular - all within a mile and a half of one another (if that)!
I remember getting gas in college (only 3 years ago!) for .95 per gallon!
