As far as those letters saying "stay away from UCSC" - Gamma Phi colonized anyway, I think you said there's a national fraternity already on campus, and 2 more have expressed interest in colonizing... plus, 10 years is a long time. Ancient history... ignore it.
In you, I see the spirit of the founding sisters of my local sorority. They'd wanted to go national, but Panhel denied their request... a lot of people would have just given up, but they formed a local sorority, and 2 years later they got their wish and we became part of AEPhi. They didn't give up, and neither should you!
