CSU-Chico's student paper reports, in an overview of news from summer 2005:
“Pi Beta Phi's Grand Council voted to close its Chico chapter after an underage sorority member was arrested for being drunk in public after a formal sorority party May 7. Officials for the national sorority said the sorority suffered from financial, academic and recruitment problems before the party.”

EDITED TO ADD: Oddly enough, the Chico chapter (California Iota) is still listed on Pi Phi's national web site, in the "collegians" section under "roll call" (at least as of 1:20 pm Central Daylight Time 8/24/05)
