Sorry I haven't checked in sooner folks but I was physically and emotionally beat. Plus I've been trying to reclaim my house from the disaster that my Hubby and kids left it in. Why is it that when Mama's away nobody knows how to pick up after themselves?
Anyways, yes Bama's ADPi is proud to welcome 64 fabulous women. (59 freshman and 5 upperclassmen) ADPi had an amazing Recruitment and the results showed it. I am so proud of our actives. This year they were so organized and everybody kept a positive attitude throughout, even in times of craziness.
As to missing pledges, yes there seems to be a slew of them (though fortunately not for us). Usually it's not uncommon for a handful of women to not accept bids, but this year looks pretty extreme. I haven't had the time to check around to see if things have been worked out or exactly what the scoop is.
I did hear some folks speculating on Bid Day about whether the new release figure system was at least partly to blame, but honestly I don't think that should have affected bid acceptance. A PNM who goes to 1, 2 or 3 Pref parties has to realize that she could be matched to one of those Chapters. If she knows in her heart that she does not want to be an ABC then she shouldn't accept their invitation to Pref. I'm wondering if the PNMs didn't understand the process completely. I plan on making some calls tomorrow.
FYI - Joe Namath did make a brief appearance at the house on Bid Day, but he quickly left. Sadly I didn't get the opportunity to meet him, though I did catch a glimpse. The parents mobbed the poor man! He decided to leave because he said this was his daughter's special day and he didn't want to take anything away from that. To me that says he's a loving father and has a lot of class.
