Photo spread of the week of mourning and rememberance:
"Smokey"'s remains brought into Parliament by his regiment, The Seaforth Highlanders.
Prime Mininster paying his respects to "Smokey" in the lobby of Parliament - Parliament's Centre Block (one of only nine in Canadian history). The soldiers on vigil are again members of "Smokey's" regiment.
A final sombre farwell to "Smokey", as thousands watch the military funeral procession marching through Vancouver, taking his remains to HMCS Ottawa so his ashes could be scatter at sea.
Pictures can only play a small part of it.... lacking is the sounds - the subdued and respectful silence of Parliament when "Smokey" was brought in to lie in state - but more impactful was the sounds of bagpipes playing laments and Seaforth's song... not only by the military and police pipers, but by lone citizens standing along the route.
Good-bye Smokey...
