While I share your amusment, I would have to note that a butler for a member of the Royal Family is a bit above "paid help." Given the responsibilities of the job, a Royal butler (or similar servant) is probably one of the foremost experts on etiquette around.

In the old days, however, they would have had enough self-respect and respect for the Family not to pull a Paul Burrell.
