Ok, we need a nice story to counter act this one. I'll try to keep it brief...
As I was driving home from work the other day, there was a huge freeway tie up and on the traffic reports they were saying it was due to a car/animal accident. The next day at work, a co-worker of mine told me the whole story (It was all cleared by the time I got to that point).
She was driving home during rush hour and saw a dog running around on the freeway, darting in and out of cars. Cars were all slowing down, trying to avoid the poor lil gal. She pulled over and was trying to get the dog, a greyhound, to come to her. Several others also pulled over, including a couple guys on Harleys, an off duty police officer and another woman, who happened to have a can of Alpo in her car. One of the Harley guys had a can opener so they tried to lure the dog out of traffic with the dog food. It didn't work though. The dog kept running in and out of traffic. Eventually, it ran under a semi and was hit, injuring one of it's legs. They managed to stop traffic across all 3 lanes while this dog continued to run around on 3 legs. They finally got it to calm down and it laid down with it's head in my co-worker's lap. The bad part was, they were in the center lane of the freeway. Finally, a city officer showed up about the same time the owner of the dog showed up. They were able to get the dog to safety and the police officer escorted the owner to an emergency vet clinic.
So, there are a whole lot of good people out there, who do love "man's best friend" and will do anything to try to help
