Get recommendations.

Ask your friends, family, clergy, parents of friends, etc.-- you never know who is Greek. Go online to npcwomen.org and call the phone number provided. Request contact information for your hometown's Alumnae Panhellenic. Contact the Alumnae Panhellenic President by phone and tell her you are a PNM from her town and looking for assistance with recommendations; can she help you? Alumnae Panhellenics have representatives of all the sororities and these women can write informational recs on your behalf.

Not having recs can hurt. Having recs can help or not do anything at all.

Getting recs will make you feel like you've done "one more thing" in your control to put yourself out there in a positive and proactice way.
