Hey gang...please forgive me for leaving you hanging. to fill you in on what is going on, after we met with all three sororities, our president went to the panhellenic, and together they ranked the three sororities by preference, and it was decided that AZD would get the invitation first, and if they declined then the school would send the invitation to tri sigma. i believe that we decided that asa was not what the university was wanting at this time. anyway, after going back and forth during the summer, azd declined the invitation due to some housing issues. the invitation was then sent to tri sigma...we should know by next week whether or not they will accept. i heard that housing is available for the spring semester, but we're just waiting for them to make a decision. we really liked both azd and tri sigma, and connected with both organizations.
hopefully, tri sigma will accept and decide to colonize us. i know there is some question about our situation. shsu decided that after a national chapter was closed, that a new sorority was needed. because we are associate members of panhel. and we have always voiced our desire to go national, the school decided to extend invitations. first, i believe, an invitation was sent to all previous national chapters that were closed on campus. then, an invitation was sent to all national chapter. i'm not sure which ones said they were interested in looking into shsu for extension, but panhel. decided to extend an invitation to azd, tri sigma, and asa. each organization came to our campus, and they met with my organization, as well as gave a presentation to panhellenic and ifc. from there, as i said, my organization discussed who we wanted to affiliate with, and then took our vote to panhell...together we ranked the sororities in order of pref....and the rest is what i mentioned earlier.
we are all ready for this to be over, and to find what sorority will be our newest, and whether or not we will be colonized....it has been a 5-month christmas eve for us! thank you all for you support and your additional input. i will definitely let you all know as soon as we hear more. have a great weekend!
