I have a positively ancient Motorola Startac (ok, it's about 4 years old). I love it - it's a sturdy little phone, compact and lightweight, and I can pick up a signal where other phones can't. It has two downsides, though... it doesn't support all the snazzy ringtones out there, and there is no external display, so although it has caller ID, it's only useful if the phone happens to be open when the call comes in.

I know this info is coming too late for you, but that's a
terrible phone. My husband has one (I'm pretty sure it's the same model), and he hates it. He had the LG phone less than a week before the external display screen cracked. The belt clip keeps breaking. He often finds that he can't get a signal whereas I, and other Verizon customers, can. When I do have to replace my Startac, I'm not getting an LG.
