We know Dumbeldore's powerful and it could be a "pretend" killing to get Snape back into Voldemort's graces and help him be a better spy for the good guys. Wouldn't surprise me in the least.

I am thinking it is either the ruse to get Snape back in with Voldemort....OR...Harry did not understand what he saw...

I just don't see JKR making Snape a double agent
