To those who are concerned about my body:

I wish you would stop commenting on my weight. I may not be as healthy as you want me to be, but it doesn't do much for my self esteem. Just because I gained a few pounds within the last few years, doesn't mean that I'm going to explode any minute now. I stand at 5'6 weighing in at about 140lbs. I don't think that's an alarming size. It may be alarming at the rate I gained the weight, but it's been stable for some time now, and who knows, maybe this summer it may decline. What I don't understand is how one person can say I look like I lost a lot of weight, and less than five minutes later someone else walks in the room and says something like, "Wow, look at those hips! You look like you packed on a few pounds!" or "You're starting to take your mother and your grandmother's shape, flat and wide!" I've been listening to this b/s for almost three years now. It's starting to get irritating!

(Obesity runs on both my maternal and paternal sides of the family, but I remain active to keep my metabolism going and maintain pretty good eating habits. I understand their concern, but sometimes they over do it a bit.)
