I can understand the arguement for the removal of "under God" from the American pledge of allegiance, but not really for the reasons you cited - many faiths are monotheistic, and believe in "one" God, so "under God" isn't that offensice per se for them... it may relate to other issues... or in the case of other faiths (or lack thereof) the rejection of the belief of any one god.
Believe it or not but the US would have a less complicated time of it, specifically changing the reference to God or a supreme being... in Canada it would require a re-writing of our Charter of Rights and Freedoms (we recognise the existance of a supreme diety as a major part of the document). But the reason the reference to a supreme diety is not really offensive is because it doesn't offend all that many people - Christians, Jews, Muslims, Agnostics, etc. are all okay with the theory of a supreme diety (as long as the actual nature isn't brought up).
