FYI about the free time - the last 2 Conventions it was in the early morning - 8am to 12 noon, with no lunch going into business session for 3 hours
...you couldn't do anything fun like a tour or anything, which is why it was moved... I frankly preferred the Friday night option - that and it helps battle back that sleep depreviation!
As for the reunions, some participants have asked for that, but they found that those from a particular chapter who go already know each other, so it didn't have the same success rate as it did at Centennial in 1997 where over 1300 AOII's were in attendance ....
And the food at least had SOME variety - at least it wasn't chicken, chicken, chicken - oh - and chiiiickeeeen - ... but yes, I was a bit suprised about ribs as they ARE messy ... and at least you got refills on the tea - that's a first in the 5 I've been too
