Right -- it all depends on the subdivision. If I moved into your subdivision and wanted to hang 50 anarchy flags or 100 beer bottles or something in my yard, I bet people would be upset. Aside from that, some homeowners' associations are more uppity about what's allowed than others, and that's something you, in theory, agree to when you move there.
