My mother once worked as a french translator for the government and she wanted to name me Cheri (my dear, with the french pronunciation.) But she figured everyone would butcher my name so she named me Sharon instead. However, my middle name is Jeanette, which she wanted pronounced as jahnnette, but of course that didn't happen either.
