Another reason they can do rush quicker is that they began classes about 6 weeks ago. This plus the recs gives them a good heads up on the rushees.
While Ole Miss is a public university it reminds me more of a private school than a large state university in terms of campus size, located in a small town, and student demographics. It has a little over 10,000 students where LSU has over 30,000, but the Greek systems are about the same size.
I almost went to Ole Miss, but decided to stay in-state.
