Have you met the sisters of the other sororities? Many rushees go through Rush thinking that they would only be happy in a certain group and disregard the other groups or meet a few sisters/get a bad impression and don't give the entire chapter a chance.
I don't know what type of "service" organization the others are thinking about starting, but Greek sororites are often committed to philanthropy projects.
