LOL!! Yes, it is very similar to the ceremony at a wedding, but it is supposed to be more toned down as it is for high school students (no head under the dress, no taking it off w/the teeth). After the garter is taken off, the guy usually wears it around his bicep (at least they did at my school). Same thing in Warrensville Hts., Ohio. I did it in 1993 and I know it was done before then and after. It was just tradition. I do know several guys who took it off with their teeth. Most guys did the bicep thing that night and later put it on their rearview mirror.
