There was a brief time that a bunch of my friends all had betas. They'd have beta fighting tournements. Drop two betas into the tank, let 'em go at it until one shows to be more dominant, then declare a winner (don't think one ever died).

As for dorm pets, someone once told me that Oklahoma State had some kind of rule that said that you couldn't have any pet that couldn't survive being underwater for 3 minutes.
