Ole Miss has three days of recruitment. Round one (Thursday and Friday) is Philanthropy, PNMs visit all 9 groups; round two (Saturday) is Skit Party, PNMs visit 6 groups and round three (Sunday) is Pref, PNMs can visit up to 3 groups. Bid Day is Sunday night.
I know it seems like a lot of PNMs to rush in three days. However, you must remember (I must say here that this is based on knowledge from when I was active many moons ago and may not be true today) that the sororities at Ole Miss require you to have recs. I do not mean just one rec, the packets that use to be mailed out had the number of required recs for each group listed. Some chapters require three or four recommendations to be extended a bid. Also, grades at Ole Miss are very strong and very very important. Ole Miss has many legacies go through recruitment also. Chi O, Phi Mu and KD all have chapters at just about every private and public school in Mississippi. All the chapters at Ole Miss have a strong presence in either Mississippi, as Cutehootie said in neighboring states or both.
As everyone has said in other posts before, rush at Ole Miss is competitive. In three days, there is no time to spare, but each chapter knows what they are looking for in a New Member. If you do not have the min. GPA, the rec requirements and other qualities the individual chapter is looking for, then you cannot make the cut for that chapter. I have to say that very few young ladies go through rush at Ole Miss naive to the recruitment process. The Greek system is strong at Ole Miss, because the members and the Alums in the system are very strong; in the community, academically and on campus. Actually most of the students at Ole Miss fit that description, not just in the Greek System.
Ole Miss and their Greek system are steeped in tradition.
