Did anyone notice also that every picture and video that was shown was from 2001 and before? Through the whole battle I never saw a picture or a video dated 2004 or 2005. In 2001 she may have still been able to move her head/eyes/whatever...but probably not 4 years later. Not as much atrophy as she had.

The parents worked hard to build a case on old information...at least in the public eye. Who knows what the judges saw.

In any case, I feel for the parents. I'm sure it's so very very hard to let a child go so young, especially when people suspect an eating disorder and you constantly have in the back of your head "I should have done something...I should have done something." Sometimes there's just nothing else to do...it's really hard to accept that helplessness.

Regarding the cause of her collapse, there's no way they'd be able to figure that out this late in the game. I don't think they would be able to diagnose an eating disorder on her now...seems like the prudent thing to do would be to review her ER records. On the other hand, sometimes shit happens and people drop dead without warning or apparent cause.

I hope everyone involved can find some peace.
