Why I chose ADPi(Sorry it is kind of long)

I did spring rush last year (If you can even call it that). I wanted to do Fall rush, but my parents did not want me to be in a sorority. They had heard things from people(Usually second hand), that gave them a bad impression. So I rushed Miller Girls. I made it to the very end then I went home to see my parents. Bad idea. They cut me because I was not there to recieve the phone call. Oh well, all for the best! So after winter break, I called panhellenic and signed up. I recieved a letter from Gamma Phi inviting me to a "rush party" at the UC. I asked my brother's roomate, who was in a fraternity, what he thought about them. He told me not to go, so I didn't.(Bad reason I know.) (Oh yeah, before even signing up, I researched the sororities on campus, and thought I knew the ones I liked and wanted to join. They were Alpha Chi, A Phi, Theta, Kappa, and Pi Phi.) Ok, about a week after getting the letter, I got a call from DG, so I went to 3 of their things, and did not feel like the girls wanted me there. There was only like 5 girls at each event, and none of them really talked to me. I felt like I was making too much of an effort. I was the one asking the questions. Then ADPi called me. I met a really sweet girl who picked me up and drove me to the lodge for "Game night". All the girls talked to me and made me feel not so nervous. Plus they were cute and outgoing. Another thing that stood out was there were about 15-20 girls at the event. The next thing 2 other girls came and picked me up at my dorm. We talked for a while and found out that we were all in the same class. And me and one of the girls(Now my Big), played club volleyball in high school, and it turns out we knew ALOT of the same people. I knew at that point that this was more than just a coincidence, and maybe I was meant to be here. I went back to my dorm and called my parents and told them everything. I told my mom to look at the national websites and tell me what she thought. She called me back and told me she loved the way we had an Official scripture. She also told me that my Grandmother volunteers for the Ronald McDonald House. She said that DG looked good to, but thats all she said abou it. The next day DG called me with a bid, I did not want to not accept it, and then not get a bid from ADPi either. I was torn about what to do. I knew I liked ADPi better, but what if they didn't want me? I prayed about it, and the next day I called back DG, and declined the bid. That day, I got a call from ADPi asking me if I was going to the bid day party. (I didn't even know I had gotten a bid, but I was gonna be there.) It was fun. At that "party" I met a really great girl(who is now one of my best friends) and she made the decision easy. I wanted to be able to call her, and the other girls I had met, my sisters. I was sooo excited to be an ADPi! The next day I got a call from A Phi asking me to a rush party. (I was sad they did not call earlier because I would have loved to gotten to know them.) I told them I had already accepted a bid somewhere else. In the end the choice I made was a perfect fit for me. I sometimes wish I had waited untill sophomore year to rush so I could have had a chance to see all the sororities and make an informed decision. But with my GPA, I would have been cut from most of the houses anyways. ADPi is where I was meant to be. This semester I got the chance to welcome my future sister-in-law into our sisterhood. (I am so very proud!!) Any Hoo, that's my story.

Pi Love-
Ryan
