So, I took advantage of the free screening at Rock Center last night and I really liked Rize. It's rare that I give a movie a good review, but this one, I do. I wouldn't suggest that you be the first one in line on opening day, but I would recommend supporting it. What I loved about it the most was the realness of it. The emotions were so palpable. For me, the dancing was interesting to watch, but it represented so much more; the pain, the anguish, the desperation, the sense of loss. I could feel all of that in their moves. I also found myself really getting into the competitiveness of it all. My favorite was Miss Prissy. That girl has to have 0% body fat (she's the one depicted on the promo, I believe). My favorite part was when they juxtaposed the modern day "Krumpers" with the different African tribes. That was so meaningful. Well, I don't want to give too much away, but I give this movie 2 thumbs up.
