5. Why you joined ADPi
My freshman year at Baylor was not very fun. I made good grades, but I didn't have very many friends and I was kinda lonely. My dad was a founding brother of the Pikes at Baylor, and he told me that I needed to rush a sorority because he loved Pi Kappa Alpha and he knew I would love being in a sorority, too. I wasn't sure about it, but my RA at the time was an ADPi and she was really the only person I knew who was in a sorority, but she was very nice and so I thought it couldn't hurt. I had so much on my mind during the recruitment parties that I lost track of time and ended up getting to the ADPi Skit Day party about two minutes LATE!!!!! I thought, that's it, it's over for me, so much for being in a sorority. I fully expected the girls to be rude to me. Turns out I couldn't have been more wrong. I apologized to the girl that brought me into the party, and she laughed and told me not to worry about it and said that the sisters called being late "being on pi time." My RA walked up to me during the party to say hi--turns out she was the President-elect! I never felt more at ease. The girls were genuine and down to earth. Nothing was a competition with them and I felt like they accepted me for who I am. ADPi has been the best thing that has ever happened to me.
6. Favorite ADPi memory
There are sooo many, but I'd have to say that when my little sister, Mallory, decided to join ADPi at Baylor was one of the happiest days of my life. Since I'm President this year and she was an Alpha, I had to conduct the Initiation ceremony for her Alpha class. It was really hard to keep my voice steady and my eyes dry. Sometimes I still get emotional when I'm opening the chapter business meeting with ritual and we're looking at each other as we recite.
Also, last summer I went with two of my ADPi sisters Kristina and Sarah, and my little sister to Oxford as part of a study abroad trip at Baylor called Baylor in Oxford. It has been a year and I still think about how much fun we had in London and Paris and Edinburgh and Oxford!
Pi love!
