Tristé Noelle Lieteau, a heath care executive, is to be married in New York this evening to Dr. Ian Keith Smith, a writer and television medical correspondent. The Rev. Dr. Calvin O. Butts III, the pastor of the Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem, is to officiate at the Rainbow Room.
The bride, 35, is the director of government relations and an associate general counsel at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. A graduate of Hampton University, the bride received a law degree from the University of Chicago and a medical degree from Harvard University.
She is a daughter of Dr. Sharon Lewis Lieteau and Michael P. Lieteau of Chicago. The bride's father is a the senior director of government relations for SBC Illinois, a regional unit of SBC, the telecommunications company. Her mother, a psychiatrist, practices in Chicago and is the medical director of Habilitative Services, a social service agency in Chicago.
The bridegroom, also 35, writes "Dr. Ian's World of Hurt," a column in Men's Health magazine, and contributes medical features to "The View," the ABC talk show. Until 2003 he was a medical correspondent for both NBC News and the "Today" show. He is on the board of the New York City Mission Society and the New York Council for the Humanities, and a trustee of the Kessler Foundation, the physical rehabilitation organization.
He graduated from Harvard and received a master's in science education from Columbia. He received his medical degree from Chicago. He is a son of Rena Cherry Bustion of Oxford, Conn., and a stepson of Noy Bustion. His mother retired as a human resources manager for Fuel Cell, an alternative-energy company in Danbury, Conn. His stepfather is a medical equipment specialist at Danbury Hospital.
