Hmmm... I think we have different accents. The way I say the word "lawn", you can hear the "W". (I didn't see that question on the What Kind Of American-English Do You Speak thread...)

ETA: A colleague in Ohio makes fun of the way I say "on." "Owwwww nnnnn," he says it sounds. For me, the words "on" and "lawn" rhyme - and have {almost} two syllables!
