I'm not a member of a BGLO, but I thought I would reply anyways. If I ever had kids (not one of my current aspirations )that went on to college and wanted to join an auxillary group I would definately discourage them; here's why:

I think when these groups first came about they might have been fullfilling a need. But there are numerous organizations out there (GLO's, BGLO's, and others) today that I would rather see them involved in. If they are interested in Greek life, then they should really go greek, not just get involved with a sweetheart or little sister or other auxillary group.

I think that the general consensus on these groups (and my limited understanding of them) is that they are frowned upon and provide little for the members, where a BGLO or GLO can offer them innumerable and irreplaceable experiences. I would encourage them to check out the fraternities or sororities available at their chosen campus.

I guess if they were dead set on joining on one, I couldn't prevent them from doing so, but I wouldn't be rushing out to finance it for them, either. (I mean disresepct to no one, this is just MHO).
